There’s no doubt that One Piece is one of the most popular anime in the world. Its global popularity has inspired many fans to travel all the way to Japan just to experience the atmosphere of Eiichiro Oda’s pirate world firsthand.
In Japan itself, there are various One Piece-themed destinations that deserve a spot on your bucket list—from the largest merchandise stores and interactive attractions to iconic photo spots that make you feel like you’re sailing with the Straw Hat crew.
Below is a list of the must-visit places.
One Piece Statue Kumamoto

In Kumamoto City—the hometown of Eiichiro Oda, the creator of the One Piece manga—there are 10 statues of One Piece characters spread across different locations.

These statues are not just photo spots for fans, but also symbols of Kumamoto’s recovery spirit after the major earthquake in 2016.
This project is called the ONE PIECE Kumamoto Revival Project, a collaboration between the local government and Eiichiro Oda. The locations of the 10 statues are as follows:
- Luffy – In front of Kumamoto Prefectural Government Office
- Chopper – Kumamoto City Zoological and Botanical Gardens
- Sanji – Mashiki Town General Sports Park
- Usopp – In front of Aso Station
- Brook – Dinosaur Park in Mifune
- Zoro – Ozu Central Park
- Nami – Moe no Sato in Nishihara Village
- Robin – Aso Earthquake Memorial Museum
- Franky – In front of Takamori Station
- Jinbe – Sumiyoshi Kaigan Park in Amakusa
Exploring all these statues can be a fun journey. Visitors can join an official shuttle tour or create their own itinerary using public transportation or a rental car.
Straw Hat Store (Mugiwara Store)

The Straw Hat Store, located in Shibuya, Tokyo—better known as Mugiwara Store—is the first and largest official One Piece merchandise store in Japan. Opened in 2012 at Shibuya Parco Part 1, the store is now located on the 6th floor of MAGNET by SHIBUYA109.
As soon as you enter, you’ll be greeted by life-size statues of Luffy and Chopper, manga murals covering the walls, and pirate-themed decorations that make you feel like you’re inside the world of One Piece.
Mugiwara Store offers over 10,000 One Piece merchandise items, including T-shirts, hoodies, figurines, plush toys, and collectibles featuring popular characters like Luffy, Zoro, Nami, and Chopper. Many of these items are exclusive and can only be found here.
In addition to shopping, visitors can also enjoy special events such as character birthday celebrations, stamp rally programs, and limited-edition product releases available only at certain times.
Shinkansen One Piece
The One Piece Shinkansen by JR West is one of the newest themed trains in Japan, launched in spring 2025. It operates on the Sanyo Shinkansen line, which runs from Osaka to Fukuoka, and is available on the Kodama service that stops at all stations along the route.
This themed train project includes three One Piece-themed bullet trains:
- Setouchi Blue – Released on April 12, 2025
- Tony Tony Chopper – Began operation on May 28, 2025
- Monkey D. Luffy – Released on July 2, 2025
The train interiors are decorated with elements from the Grand Line, including pirate-style seating and design. Exclusive One Piece merchandise is also available for purchase at stations along the route.
Since the train operates on the Sanyo Shinkansen line, you can use various JR Pass options such as the JR Pass Nationwide (Ordinary/Green), Sanyo San’in Area Pass, Sanyo-San’in Northern Kyushu Pass, and more.
One Piece Bragmen Gym

One Piece Fitness BragMen is a permanent One Piece-themed fitness center located in Shibuya MODI, Tokyo. Opened in 2023, this gym offers a unique workout experience with an atmosphere that feels like being on a pirate ship.
The name “BragMen” refers to an adventure book mentioned in Volume 13 of the One Piece manga, which tells stories from the Grand Line to Little Garden Island.
The interior design, equipment, and trainers are all created to reflect the pirate world, making visitors feel like they are training within the One Piece universe.
The facilities are also quite unique, featuring meat-shaped barbells inspired by Luffy’s favorite food, weighted vests styled after the Red Hair Pirates like Shanks, and large screens for Deck Programs showing Luffy training.
The gym also offers various themed classes such as Haki Projector Combat, Pirate Yoga, Navy Pilates, Alabasta Belly Dance, and high-intensity UNBOUND training inspired by Gear 4.
